Aug 02, 2014 · But Tor is the best option available. Using Tor, you are more anonymous than you would be using JonDonym alone, and far more anonymous than you would be using VPN services alone. Although Tor is a much larger anonymity system than JonDonym, it's still too small. Since May 2006, JonDonym can also be used as a client for the Tor network and since 2006 also for the Mixminion network. These features are still in an early stage and available only in the beta version of the software. Tunneling JonDonym through Tor, and then a VPN service through JonDonym, further disassociates online activity from a hotspot’s public IP address. Although users are subject to surveillance both locally and remotely, the Internet uplink is their key vulnerability. There’s then a Tor ‘middlebox’ (in my case hosted on a RaspberryPi) which has JonDoNym, Proxychains and of course Tor I stalled. The system presumably works by the client connecting to Tor (through an Obsf4 bridge) (the Torrc file edited so the exit node is anywhere) and then a proxychains to any necessary location. JonDonym and Tor are quite resilient against this attack (a scientific article which demonstrates the attack is found here; the success rates are over 90% for VPNs). Jul 25, 2018 · Using Tor with a VPN gives you an extra layer of privacy because the VPN encryption prevents the Tor entry node (the Tor server where you enter the hidden network) from seeing your IP address. A compromised Tor entry node is one common way for an attacker to try to break Tor’s anonymity. Tor through VPN using the Tor Browser VPN method achieves a similar end and is much more secure. If you are doing anything that requires real anonymity we recommend doing this over the convenience of Tor through VPN using a transparent proxy. In both the above methods, though, you lose the true anonymity afforded by Tor. You have to configure the proxy setting of each internet application you want to use anonymous with JonDonym by self. May 21, 2016 · JonDonym’s anonymity test. ip-check.info is a service of JonDonym. Before starting the test, the tool will show if the IP address belongs to JonDonym’s or Tor projects. Running the initial test takes a few seconds but you will notice that the site is still loading and will display more results later. It also gives a rating for each check. And so you don't use the VPN service (or Tor or JonDonym) for online banking, etc. Or if you're using a VPN for wifi hotspot security, you use a particular one, with a nearby exit IP address. If you want some degree of anonymity for other activity, you use a different VPN.
